kboykool - devastating logic ;-) People swallow that "best selling" line hook line and sinker. Means nothing. Argumentum ad populum.

"Ford sells more trucks..." "most dependable, longest-lasting..."
These two statements may not be mutually exclusive. It seems to me that saying a company sells more means the their competitor cannot be more dependable and longer lasting is counter-intuitive. Perhaps the reason one company sells more is that their owners must replace their product more frequently. If the competition truly has something that lasts longer, its owners won't buy as often and therefore won't buy as many.
Then again, what do I care? I own a Dodge.

Ford sells more trucks and there must be a reason so I would say GM's claims aren't accurate.

Good old GM. Builds lousy cars. Shifts production to China after taxpayers bail out. Now use stupid ads. What's next?

You forgot "Fix or Replace, Daily".
It's nice to see that they've improved over the bad old days. Too bad they've jumped into bed with Microsoft. They most definitely need to keep the two computer systems 100% isolated.

Marketing.
Gotta love it.
Or not.
The truth is, *no* current vehicle is likely to survive an electro-magnetic pulse event. Their computers will be fried.
Makes the ancient Ford F-150 a little more attractive.

The commercial worked well, got the Silverado talked about even more, did it not? Matter of fact Ford gets benefit too.
It wasn't like they brought up the old sayings you used to hear for FORD, like "Found On Road Dead" or "Freaking old Rebuilt Dodge".

" The ad is a fun way of putting this claim in the context of the apocalypse,” said General Motors Global Chief Marketing Officer Joel Ewanick." Apparently not very funny to Ford. Got news for both of them: None of your trucks will survive the next gas crisis, let alone the apocalypse.

The companies are just playing their marketing/political business warfare. Since I don't work for either company, I thought the commercial was funny. I am sure Ford will have some sort of comeback in the future.

It was a good ad, too bad the people at the ad agency are not running GM and perhaps they would not have needed the bail out.
I would have been surprised if Ford did not object to the ad.

This is a world of competition we live in. So Ford eat your heart out, GM did put out a bold commercial. Counter it if you want....Commercial was very well done and it was funny to some extent

Certainly Ford will return the jab much like they did at the Los Angeles Auto Show where they stole Chevrolet’s thunder by announcing the 2013 Shelby GT500 will have 650 horsepower – 70 more than the just released Camaro ZL1. Surely someone at Ford may blame the alien invasion in the Silverado commercial on the extraterrestrials being disappointed in the Volt’s technology (from the first commercial) after all.

...I mean what are you going to do about it lol, are we really scared of some competition. This should motivate them thats better and cheaper on gas. Its like everybody is trying to be buddy buddy or something, making it easy to screw people like us. Everyone should start thinking of ways to do better then their competitors and instead of trying to do the same thing over and over with some minor changes..this is why I hate Apple products, cause everyone is really buying them because of its name not the actually product itself.
