Pump prices hit two-year low
Wednesday, November 19, 2008
The Calgary Herald -- Prices at the gas pump have reached their lowest point in nearly two years, but analysts and motorists say newly embraced fuel-efficient driving habits will likely stick.

The average price Calgarians paid to fill up as of Tuesday was 84.3 cents a litre, according to local petroleum-industry consultancy group MJ Ervin & Associates Inc. The city hasn't seen the price that low since February 2007.

The national average, 85.4 cents a litre, was last seen 22 months ago, in January 2007.

As long as prices for diesel is high, the price of everything will be high. I feel sorry for the people on fixed income and also the people that are losing their jobs. How are they going to survive?

Somewhere in the pipeline, someone is being GREEDY. If the price of oil is way down, the price of gas & diesel should be way down too!

The lowest I've seen is $1.77. It might continue down to around $1.50 but with OPECs meeting scheduled for later this month, I'm expecting oil-production quotas to be lowered and prices to start rising again, soon!

Don't know about canadians, but down here in the US we have all just been robbed again - last time is was the S&L, now it is the banks - guess I will have to get out of the credit union in a few years.

I seem to recall people posting on this site that gas prices would go up after the election. Still dropping...$1.67.

Avg price in our state is around 49 cents a litre. Makes me glad to not have public healthcare and all those social programs to pay for (yet).
